Griffith University's Sustainability Milestone

BSB member Griffith University has reached a significant sustainability milestone, eliminating one million single-use plastic items from its food and beverage operations.

Since joining Boomerang Alliance’s Plastic Free Places program in November 2024, Griffith University has been transitioning away from single-use items across key areas of its operations.

Griffith University launched a reusable coffee cup swap system, allowing students to borrow a reusable cup from participating cafes and return after use. The cups are then cleaned and reused, helping to reduce single-use cup waste.
