Overview of the Precinct
The South Bank Precinct is located 800 metres from Brisbane's CBD. The South Bank precinct, as defined by BSB, runs from Go Between and William Jolly bridges to Woolloongabba. The main thoroughfares are Melbourne, Grey, Cordelia, Merivale and Vulture Streets.
Montague Road, once a predominantely industrial area, is transforming with more residential developments and commercial developments being constructed.
The precinct’s proximity to the CBD has made it attractive for numerous corporate organisations to relocate out of the city centre.
The precinct is the city’s cultural hub housing the Gallery of Modern Art, State Library of Queensland, Queensland Art Gallery, Queensland Museum, Queensland Performing Arts Centre, Opera Queensland, Queensland Symphony Orchestra amongst others includes a large cultural presence with theatres and galleries to name a few.
Neighbouring the city’s cultural institutions is Brisbane’s number one tourist attraction South Bank Parklands. A 17-hectare urban oasis containing restaurants, shops, major open spaces and a beach.
With a growing number of residential developments being built, the precinct is fast becoming a place to work, live and play.

Transport
The precinct is easily accessible by bus, train, ferry, CityCycle and car. It is serviced by two train stations – South Brisbane Station and South Bank Station. The Cultural Centre busway station is a principal bus interchange for buses from the north and south. Whilst the South Bank busway connects the precinct directly to the South-East busway.
The precinct’s location on the river makes it ideal for commuters travelling by citycat or ferry.
Pedestrian and cyclist accessibility is outstanding with many bike and walkways throughout the precinct, punctuated by the pedestrian/cyclist-only bridges - The Goodwill Bridge and the Kurilpa Bridge.
The precinct is also home to numerous CityCycle stations.

Attractions and events
The South Bank precinct is the cultural hub of Queensland and is home to many arts and events organisations including the most visited gallery in Australia, the Gallery of Modern Art (GoMA) and the internationally awarded, Brisbane Convention and Exhibition Centre.

Shopping, restaurants and bars
Shopping, restaurants and bars are mainly located along Grey St, Little Stanley St and Melbourne Street. It is estimated that there are 257 restaurants, bars and cafes, 53 fashion boutiques and 157 specialty stores in the area.

The Parklands, Little Stanley Street and Grey Street
One of South Bank's most popular attractions is The Parklands, South Bank. The Parklands include green space, the Suncorp Piazza, cafes, restaurants, playgrounds and the famous Streets Beach, an urban beach with views of the CBD.
Adjacent to The Parklands is Little Stanley and Grey Streets which house a wide variety of retailers, cafes, bars and restaurants alongside residential apartments and office space.

Education
The precinct is also a centre for education. It is estimated that there are 80,000 students within 1.5km radius. Griffith University Queensland College of Art and Queensland Conservatorium, Southbank Institute of Technology, Brisbane State High School, Sommerville House and St Lawrence's College are located in the area.
