About Us

Business South Bank (BSB) was established, as an incorporated Association in 1999, in response to the precinct business leaders recognising the need for a common 'voice'.

The evolution of the precinct into a thriving commercial, retail, cultural, tourist and education hub has parralled the growth of BSB.

BSB is a membership based organisation - and its role is to:

  • Engage and advocate on important issues affecting the precinct and businesses within the precinct.
  • Connect members through a broad calendar of events and initiatives
  • Provide communication outlets

BSB has tackled many issues on behalf of the precinct including the Grey & Melbourne Street intersection; public transport to the area; safety and security; South Brisbane Riverside Renewal Plan; commenting on parking and infrastructure projects.

BSB commissioned Australia's first sustainability audit. The audit is the first step in the precinct's collective response to designing a culture of sustainable activity and achieving its goal of becoming Australia's most sustainable precinct.

BSB has a membership of over 100 corporate members which represents a workforce of approx. 9000. For a full list of members please visit the Members List.

Business South Bank has a board of 14 directors that oversee the strategic direction of the Association, and is managed by a professional secretariat comprising of an Executive Officer and support staff.

Board of Directors

Each year at the Annual General Meeting, a Board of Directors is elected to guide the Association activities and finances (see Articles of Association in 'Resource' pages).

Any financial member may nominate for a position on the Board. The varying category of membership determines the number of positions available for that category.

The Board of Business South Bank meet 6 times a year to review the strategic direction, review current and upcoming activities, make policy decisions, approve monthly financial statements, and discuss and endorse recommendations/positions of the periodic subcommittee meetings.
